Van Gogh Gone Robin M King 9781599929842 Books Reviews
I love the way Robin King writes. As you read you can feel the emotions that Alex is going through. I enjoyed every minute of reading Van Gogh Gone. I have always enjoyed books that help you learn more about human nature and how personal experiences help form our perspectives and actions. I could hardly set this book down and know I will want to reread it many times in the future. Remembrandt and Van Gogh Gone have become two of my treasures in my extensive library.
Another fun read by Robin King. This is the sequel to Remebrandt. I got frustrated with the main character a little bit, but that's a good indication that I was involved with the story. In the middle, the pacing of the plot could have picked up, but other than that it was a great story. I would probably rate this book a 4.5, but I really liked it. Thank you Robin!
Hopefully, there will be a third book in this series. Alex's memory is a wonderful device around which all of this intrigue and adventure is possible. It creates the reason why a 17 year-old can be a stunning success at college and be chosen by her "organization" for dangerous assignments. I particularly liked this book because in it Alex begins to truly mature. The book also has two important lessons you must be true to who you are and your values; you never need to be alone. Everyone loves the adventure, suspense and romance, but these lessons make this a far deeper novel than just an adventure story. Alex's connection to her two families (birth family and organization family) gives both books dimension. And both connections are more deeply explored in Van Gogh Gone. BTW-review is by Mary Hokanson.
And the second installment of Robin King's Remembrandt series has done it once again.
This was a masterful continuation of the first book. Many times in series we see a continuation of the same theme over and over in the following books, but not this one. In Van Gogh Gone we may still have the same characters, but a whole new dynamic appears among the characters forcing them to learn and grow and decide what really matters in their lives and the lives of those they care about.
Alex's struggles with who she is and how her choice can change everything becomes an even more important decision in this installment. On top of all that we also get an amazing trip into the world of espionage and art theft, and it isn't always the bad guys stealing the art . . . or is it?
King has once again created a story that is impossible to put down until the very last page and even then I left hoping for more. ) The twists and turns will keep you guessing and in the end you'll be surprised by the decisions Alex must make.
Two thumbs up!!!
