Chasing the Green Fairy is the second book in Melanie Karsak’s, steampunk series The Airship Racing Chronicles. I love this series, and would give them both 10 stars if I could. I would recommend this book to a mature readers 18 years or older, due description of drug use and some steamy scenes, but who also loves an amazing story. I had never read steampunk before Chasing the Star Garden, the first book in the series, and now its one of my top two favorite genres. These books are seriously awesome, from front to back. I am especially drawn to the covers, they, themselves are a piece of art. I actually have Chasing the Star Garden on my book shelf, and I am itching to get Chasing the Green Fairy beside it. Lily, the main character of the series has come along way since Chasing the Star Garden. I absolutely adore Lily, she is an amazing character and very well written. Despite moments of weakness she is such a strong and loyal character. I think a lot of people could actually relate to Lily and her struggles. Be prepared to shed a tear or three, Chasing the Green Fairy is an emotionally driven story. I actually had to take a day to process a major event in the story, because I was in total shock over what happened. Sounds a little silly I know, but Melanie is that good of a writer. It was like I felt all of Lily’s emotions right along with her. I can’t wait to see what Melanie has in store for Lily and her friends in book three.

Chasing the Green Fairy is book two in Melanie Karsak’s amazing The Airship Racing Chronicles series.

We meet back up with Lily, Lord Byron, Sal, and the rest of the gang for more racing and mysteries but most of all we follow Lily as she struggles to come to terms with loss, love, and heartache.

We experience the past, present, and a possible future for Lily and the Stargazer crew. Current events mingle with Lily’s memories and lead her into some very dark moments. My heart broke for poor Lily. I just wanted to give her a hug and assure her that one day things would be better.

If I had to use three words to sum up Chasing the Green Fairy they would be loss, despair, and acceptance.

If you haven’t yet experienced the amazing writing of Melanie Karsak do yourself a favor and pick up book 1, Chasing the Star Garden and then enjoy catching up with Book 2, Chasing the Green Fairy.

Melanie has a gift for vivid description, amazing world building, and the ability to transport a reader into her creation from the first sentence to the last.

I look forward to my next visit with Lily and the Stargazer crew.

Summary Love this series. It’s a great blend of romance, steam punk, mystery, mythology, and life. It is dark yet hopeful. A wonderful escape into an amazingly built world with vivid descriptions and unforgettable characters.
Since I finished reading the first one, Chasing the Star Garden (Airship Racing Chronicles Book 1) , I've been anxious to read the second. Once I began reading, I could not put it down.

Lily Stargazer is back aboard the good air ship, Stargazer. When unexpected and heart-breaking circumstances force her to evaluate her choices, she finds an private history and a new way to fly. Beloved Lord Byron makes an appearance in Lily's past, present, and future, bestowing a special gift on unsuspecting Lily.

The story is skillfully written, exciting, but with a more contemplative and introspective tone than the first. The depth of feeling Lily feels for the men in her life is laid bare. We find thatLord Byron has been keeping, secrets Lily has been keeping, and learn more of the history / back story for Lily Stargazer. Sal is an ever-present hope, pulling Lily forward. We meet King George, visit Morocco, completed with a healthy dose of woad!

Definitely a story that was hard to put down. Melanie Karsak does a superb job on Chasing the Green Fairy (Airship Racing Chronicles Book 2).
Our much beloved flight crew is back aboard the Stargazer for another adventure. This time it i through the love and loss of the heart. I was incredibly impressed at the change of direction in this second novel. While I appreciated the Davinci Code-esque style of the first novel, I really connected to the story this time. There wasn't all the glamour of travelling all around the world in this installation, but there was a healthy dose of back story. We really get to see a better picture of where Lily is coming from and all her connections.

The addition of lore and myth from one of my favorite island nations was a nice touch. I have to say once again, I was really impressed at the direction this novel took with the story line. I had serious time management issues when reading. I did not want to stop and go to work. The pacing was on target for continual intrigue.

The pain and suffering are so real, the spin out of control is so real. Beautiful. Lily is just an absolutely fabulous character. She is so beautifully flawed, so imperfect, and even a tad bit villainous. I respect her. She certainly isn't the girl most parents want to meet, but she is a realistic choice. I will throw some kudos to the men as well because they make fantastic support characters. Each person has such a bizarre tick that I have just fallen in love with.

The final flying scenes were some of my favorite. I was easily able to imagine floating along the blue skies like a bird due to some fantastic descriptive writing. Praise to the writing talents of Melanie Karsak. I am eagerly awaiting Chasing the Fog later this year.
